VLC Drive Bridge is a personal Android companion for browsing and playing audio and video from your authorized Google Drive folders in VLC on the same phone.
Google Drive access
The app requests Google's Drive read-only permission. That permission can read and download files across the authorized Google Drive account, including accessible shared folders. The app checks the authorized account, then lists folders and playable media on demand for user-directed browsing and playback. It has no app route to edit, upload, delete, or change sharing on Drive files.
How media moves
When you browse or play, the app requests file information and media bytes from Google Drive. It streams those bytes through the phone to VLC over a password-protected FTP connection bound to the phone's loopback address. This connection is available only on the same device. The app does not intentionally save a complete media file for playback or send Drive content to an app-operated cloud server.
Drive data is used only to provide the browsing and playback you request. It is not sold, used for advertising, or used to train machine-learning models. Use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
What the app keeps
Google manages authorization. The app uses access tokens in memory and does not persist Google access or refresh tokens. It stores a randomly generated local FTP password encrypted with the Android Keystore. The app may show current service status and transfer counts on the phone. VLC is a separate application and may retain playback history or cached data according to VLC's settings.
Control and revocation
You can enable reconnection after phone restarts. The app stores that choice locally and uses Android's boot notification to restore its visible bridge service. Restoration does not crawl Drive or repeatedly poll it: Google authorization and folder access are checked when you browse. Stop bridge turns automatic reconnection off. You can revoke the app's Google Drive authorization in Google Account Connections. Revoking access prevents new authorized Drive requests; VLC's own history or cache must be managed in VLC.
This website
These static pages use no analytics, advertising, external fonts, or embedded trackers. A website host may still process ordinary connection metadata, such as an Internet Protocol address and request time, to deliver the pages and operate its service.
